Legal Stuff

Due to the legal repercussions that unfortunately accompany street art, the artist of this exhibition has chosen to protect themselves by donating each piece to the establishment on which they are mounted. Therefore, transferring ownership of each piece to the establishment, so no one can say that the artist is defacing private property, as the artist holds no ownership of the pieces in question. In other words, it’s not theirs, leave them alone.

Below is a template of the text written onto the inner side of each piece mounted for the purpose of the exhibition.  The text on each piece has been modified to reflect the specific piece and relevant establishment to which it donates ownership.

“I, Regina Avendano, hereinafter “the Author”, hereby confirm my donation of the framed printing of the poem entitled “(name of the poem)”, hereinafter “the Poem”, part of the Eight Nights exhibition by the Author, as a gift to “(the name of the pub) or relevant property owner/manager, hereinafter “the Establishment”, to be exhibited at the main entrance of the Establishment, for at least eight weeks.

The Establishment purports to either keep the Poem available to public view or to, in turn, transfer it to the British Museum, through the Art Fund or the Arts Council England, so such a prestigious institution may enrich its collection of “two million years of human history, art and culture” with art pieces not stolen from other countries’ cultural heritage, but given freely and graciously by the Author.”
